Kids Art Fest - May 27th 2025
The Kids Art Fest is joining forces with the Yankton Community Library and Yankton's Parks and Recreation Department to create an even bigger and better celebration for the community! Scheduled for the last Tuesday in May, this exciting collaboration transforms the beloved festival into a dynamic kickoff for summer fun. While the Kids Art Fest continues its cherished tradition of free craft projects, the library will launch its Summer Reading Program, and Parks and Recreation will unveil their lineup of summer activities, making this event a must-attend for families in the area.
Since its inception in 1991 by Yankton Area Arts, the Kids Art Fest has been a staple of the community, offering children the chance to explore their creativity at no cost. Nearly a dozen local businesses and nonprofits sponsor craft stations at the Riverside Park picnic shelters, where kids can create make-and-take art projects tailored to elementary-age children. The addition of the library’s reading program and Parks and Recreation’s activities only enhances the festival’s appeal, creating a one-stop destination for family fun. With “Art Explorer Passports” guiding children through the craft stations, opportunities to win prizes, food vendors on-site, and a fully handicap-accessible venue, this event promises something for everyone and sets the tone for a summer full of creativity, learning, and play.
