YAA Art of Healing program continues to partner with Avera Sacred Heart Cancer Center to creatively serve cancer patients and their caregivers on their journeys to wellness. We are currently seeking volunteer teaching artists for our fourth term. Please consider using your strengths to give others strength! Course offerings are limited really only by imagination and have included such things as painting, drawing, jewelry making, woodcarving, poetry, ballroom dancing, yoga, winemaking, journaling, Photoshop, scrapbooking, and holiday crafting. Call the YAA office to join in this worthy endeavor.

Any cancer patient or survivor is eligible to register for our scheduled fine arts classes, and the courses are offered FREE OF CHARGE! Courses will be offered in three-month “terms,” and students are allowed to bring one relative, co-survivor, or caregiver to class with them for fun and support. The courses are quite varied as well as flexible, and all of our Teaching Artists are prepared to work with students of any ability!

And if you’re not artistic? Who cares? These classes are about exploration and discovery, not winning any contests! The Arts can allow individuals to find their voices and express themselves during an incredibly difficult moment in life! Try one class and see what a difference it can make in your well being…

Special thanks to our friends at the NFAA Easton Yankton Archery Complex and Yankton Community Library for helping our Teaching Artists to find classroom space!
