Art House Gallery located at 110 W 3rd; 10:00am-8:00pm.

Featruring JoAnn Lambertz at Lewis and Clark Theatre; 5:00pm – 7:00pm.“Her stunningly beautiful photographs capture, for the rest of us, the moments-large and small, panoramic and personal, that we too often miss, helping us to see the world around us differently, forever after.”

Captured is LCTC’s first Lobby Gallery Display. This display will run from April 9th 2010 to May 1st 2010. Thirty percent of all sales go to Stage 1 of the three part restoration project of LCTC.

New location at 213 W 3rd; 9:00am – 8:00pm. Artist Dan Bartos will be at the gallery to visit with guest about his pottery. Please stop in and see the new location and learn about the upcoming summer art classes!

Studio Art Center located at 412 Douglas St; 12:30 – 7:00pm; open to the public. This opening is celebrating the 11th Anniversary of the Studio Art Center and will featrue the work of the centers students.

Yankton Area Arts is pleased to announce the exhibition entitled “Variations on a Theme: One of Kind Prints,” featuring printmaker Susan Heggestad of Vermillion, SD. Susan is a non-traditional printmaker and her art represents some of the finest examples one-of-a-kind mixed media prints. Variations on a Theme: One of Kind Prints will be on display at the G.A.R. Hall Art gallery from April 30 through June 15, 2010.

On the evening of April 30, Yankton Area Arts will host a reception for Ms. Heggestad beginning at 5:00pm at the G.A.R. Hall Art Gallery. The reception is open to the public and everyone is invited to take this opportunity to meet artist and visit with Susan about her work. The gallery talk will begin shortly after 5:30pm and all ages are encouraged to attend. Viewers visiting the gallery during this exhibit are in for a rare treat of visually engaging prints representing endless variations on a theme.

NNAA will open their annual juried Spring Show at Sunset Plaza Apriil 10-18th. Judge will be Lois Smith of Columbus, NE. Winners of this show will proceed to the statewide competition (ANAC) in Fremont in June. The Awards Banquet will be held at 6PM April 10th at the Norfolk Arts Center. Members will be demonstrating and selling other pieces in addition to the exhibit.

UpBeat Studio of Yankton is sponsoring a series of free events to encourage the community to participate:

“Jazz Story Time” is a traveling free event that will begin at the studio on April 19th, from 10:00am-10:45am, and continue through the community at various daycare centers and preschools through the end of the month. Children will listen to a story about jazz, and participate in playing rhythm instruments as they hear a swinging jazz standard.

“Jazz Icons: A Birthday Celebration” will be held on April 16th, from 6:00pm-7:30pm at UpBeat Studio, 805 Locust. Stop by for refreshments and a visual presentation honoring some of the greatest musicians to play jazz, who have April birthdates. Ella Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington, Johnny Dodds, Billie Holiday, and Tito Puente are a few.

“Children’s Music JAM!” is an opportunity for kids of all ages to play instruments provided by the studio and “improvise or jam” along to popular jazz songs. Facilitator, Rebecca Dodds, will lead the children in music, crafts, and fun! Feel free to bring your own instrument, if you have one, your voice, or a pair of tap shoes (to make musical rhythms with your feet). Come anytime on April 10th, from 10:00am-2:00pm at Tripp Park, near the corner of Broadway and 8th Street.
